Do You Believe In Miracles??

You know, there are certain people that you meet in your life that you KNOW are not by mistake or coincidence. One day in England Chris and I were out exploring Portsmouth by ourselves and we had to find St. Luke's School to meet with some students in the afternoon. Chris stopped to ask a group of high school students if they could tell us where the school was and Axel stepped forward and said he'd walk us there. So Axel and his friend left their other friends and walked us to the school. During the walk we learned that Axel is a Christian who is from Congo and has been in England for a few years. His friend is muslim and had a fun disposition and personality (I'm totally blanking on his name right now....I'm so sorry). We were going to the school to join an Alpha Group that King's Church leads after school for any student interested. It's a group that gets together and talks about "the meaning of life" and all that comes with that, exploring various religions and philosophies. Axel and his friend wanted to come to the group and I'm so glad they did. They both added such great stories and questions and really got the topics going for the group that afternoon. Afterwards Chris invited them to the youth night on Saturday night and church on Sunday. We were blessed to see Axel come to both. In the few days of knowing him I was so impressed with Axel. He had friends of all different backgrounds and religions and philosophies, yet they all called him "preacher" because he always talks about God and how God is active in all of their lives in the little things and big things. He is quick to smile and is so filled with faith. He never seemed nervous to stand on God's word and proclaim the Truth of who God is and what God can do??

My favorite story with Axel occurred on Sunday after church. He brought a friend to church who is not a christian. After the service I wanted to get a picture of Axel with Chris. I lined up the shot perfectly but as soon as I started to push the button, the camera's battery died. It had been blinking at me for some time, so I knew I didn't have much left. Axel immediately said to me, "Turn the power back on and try again." He looked directly at his friend and said, "Do you believe in miracles?" His friend just laughed at him, but he said, "You're about to see one. Take the picture." I turned on the power and took the shot and it worked!!! We all just laughed and got excited, but I believe that that "little" experience of God's hand planted a seed in Axel's friends life. I pray that it did. I truly believe that God has filled Axel with extraordinary faith, a gift of extra faith even. And I pray that He uses Axel and his strong faith to show His love for every person who enters and leaves Axel's life. I know that that was my experience in meeting Axel, oh to have such faith!
